The Alejandro singer - who famously wore an outfit made of Kermit The Frogs at the 2009 VMAs - will star in the forthcoming kids' film, according to Production Weekly.
And it's rumored Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family will be part of "GaGa's entourage", along with The Office stars John Krasinski and Ed Helms.
Other names linked to the film are Jane Lynch of Glee fame (it's thought she'll be cast as a prison guard), as well as Donald Glover and Danny Trejo.
The Muppets will open on Christmas Day 2011.
